Yesterday I was at the Frieze Art Fair in Regent’s Park. There was some amazing stuff on display but not just on the walls.
Human-meets-technology as far as the eye can see..
No one under the age of 25 was actually looking at the work, they were just taking pictures of it all on their mobile phones. Will they look at it when they get home? If so, what was the point of getting out from behind their laptops when they could have looked at the work on a screen in the comfort of their own home rather than taking up space in the real world? (and.. ahem.. blocking my view!)
Will they look at the images before they delete them to make more room on their SD cards for pictures of holidays and nights out? …. which I would imagine would at least warrant display on Facebook…
When does the act of recording become the event itself?
I'm pretty much like you. Only different.
